By the time that I started looking for serious collector dolls, I already had over 30 different dolls, most of them in good condition. Of course, collectible dolls are not something that you get for kids. Part of the reason is that kids aren’t responsible enough to keep track of highly priced collectibles, but that is not the only reason. Kids want to play with their dolls, but collectors dolls are not to be played with. I had my own Barbie doll collection, and although I kept most of them in pretty good shape, some of them suffered from my games. I would cut their hair, modify the clothes – all the things that kids do with the Barbies.

One thing I have learned through the use of crafts and hobbies is that it gives a family a non threatening way to spend time together. It also strengthens relationships for future hard topics that need to be discussed. It is harder for family members to go back to yelling and screaming at each other when they have formed a bond through spending time together. Amazing what can be achieved by doing crafts.

More and more, the consumer is opting to make gifts or goods that they were accustomed to buying ready made in better times. Another advantage to the arts and crafts business is that your customers get entertainment value and personal satisfaction, as well as saving money. You needn’t even be proficient in arts and crafts to make this arts and crafts business model work!
